Claude Pro price in Italy: the number first

Claude Pro in Italy costs $20 a month, or $200 a year paid up front, and Anthropic quotes that price in US dollars before tax. Italian IVA (imposta sul valore aggiunto, the Italian VAT, 22% at the standard rate) is added at checkout, not included in the $20. Converted at the ECB (European Central Bank) reference rate, monthly Pro comes to about 21.05 euro a month with IVA, and the annual plan to about 210.49 euro for the year. On the Italian App Store the same plan is listed at 22.00 euro a month and 249.99 euro a year, with IVA included.

Every figure on this page was read on 14 September 2026 from Anthropic's own pages and from the Italian App Store listing. Prices change, so treat the date as part of the number.

The conversion uses the ECB reference rate published on 11 September 2026, 1 euro = 1.1592 US dollars. The IVA line is 22%. Your bank's rate will be a little worse than the ECB rate (the currency section below explains why), so read the euro column as "close to", not "exactly".

Does Anthropic bill in euro or in dollars from Italy?

The public price is in dollars. Anthropic's pricing page, in its Italian version as well as the English one, shows "$20" and "$200", and the help centre describes Pro as "$20 per month (US), with pricing in your local currency where supported". The currency your card is charged in is decided by the checkout page at claude.ai/upgrade after you sign in, based on the billing address of your payment method. When Claude opened in the EU in May 2024, Anthropic announced Pro at "€18 + VAT per month (or local currency equivalent)", so a euro web price has existed. The pricing page today does not show one, and no euro web price appears here that was not read at a checkout on the day of writing. Look at the total on your own upgrade page before you click Subscribe. That total is the only figure that counts.

Two things follow from the currency. If your checkout shows dollars, your card issuer converts the charge. The issuer uses the Visa or Mastercard rate on the settlement day, then adds a foreign-currency fee (commissione per transazioni in valuta estera), usually a percentage of the amount. That fee is in your bank's foglio informativo, not on Anthropic's page, so the real monthly cost is the euro figure above plus that percentage. If your checkout shows euro, the amount is fixed for the billing term and your bank adds nothing. Anthropic's invoice help page says the currency of an existing subscription cannot be switched mid-term: you cancel at the end of the term, then buy the plan again to be offered the currency for your region.

Is 22% IVA included or added at checkout?

Added. The pricing page carries the line "Prices shown don't include applicable tax", and in Italian "I prezzi indicati non includono le imposte applicabili". The consumer terms say Anthropic may charge your payment method "for any applicable fees listed on our Services and any applicable tax". Tax is calculated from your billing address, which is taken from the address on your card. An Italian address means the Italian rate.

For a private person (privato) there is nothing more to do: the IVA is a cost you cannot recover. For a partita IVA holder (an Italian VAT-registered professional or company) the checkout may show an optional Tax or VAT ID field. Anthropic's help centre says the field appears "if your address is eligible for tax purposes". Enter the number before the first charge, because "updates to your billing details will only apply to future billing cycles" and an invoice that has already been issued cannot be corrected. To put your studio's name on the invoice instead of your own, tick "Use a different name on invoices" in Settings > Billing. Annual or monthly (abbonamento annuale)?

The annual plan is $200 charged once, which Anthropic presents as "$17 per month". You get twelve months for the price of ten. The trade is that the whole year is charged up front, in one converted amount with IVA on top, and Anthropic's terms say payments are non-refundable except where the law requires a refund. If you are not sure you will use Claude every month, start monthly; you can switch to annual later from Settings > Billing. What does Pro add over Free (cosa include, limiti)?

Free is the same models with a small usage allowance. Pro gives "at least 5x more usage per 5-hour session than Free", plus Claude Code, Cowork, projects and Research. A Pro account also has a weekly cap across all models, so heavy daily use can still hit a limit before the week is over. Is there a free trial of Claude Pro (prova gratuita)?

No. Anthropic's pricing page and help centre list no trial period for Pro, and the sign-up flow goes from "Get Pro plan" to a billing period choice and then a payment form. The free plan is the trial: sign up at claude.ai with an email address and use it for a week. Count how often you see the limit message. If you subscribe and change your mind, cancel from Settings > Billing at least 24 hours before the renewal date; the terms name that as the cut-off to avoid the next charge. EU consumer law gives a 14-day withdrawal right on distance purchases, but a digital service you start using at once can lose that right, so do not plan on a refund. What the free tier actually allows is the place to check before paying anything.

Is Claude free for students in Italy (gratis per studenti)?

There is no student price on Anthropic's pricing page as of September 2026, and no discount code for a university email address. What exists is Claude for Education, an agreement between Anthropic and an institution: if your university has signed one, you get access through it, at no cost to you, for as long as you are enrolled. If it has not, you pay the same as everyone else, and the free plan is the fallback. Can two people share one Pro account (account condiviso)?

Not under the terms. Anthropic's consumer terms say: "You may not share your Account login information, Anthropic API key, or Account credentials with anyone else. You also may not make your Account available to anyone else." Splitting one subscription between two colleagues is a terms violation, and it is a poor deal anyway, because two people then share one usage allowance and one conversation history. The options for a small studio are two Pro accounts or a Team plan, which bills per seat. Is Claude Pro worth it for an Italian professional (conviene)?

For a privato, the question is whether you hit the free limit often enough that about 21.05 euro a month buys back real time. If you use Claude a few times a week, Free is enough. If you hit the limit most days, or you want Claude Code in your terminal, the price is easy to justify.

For a partita IVA the arithmetic depends on your tax regime. Under the regime forfettario, costs are not deducted item by item, so the full amount with IVA is simply your cost. Under the regime ordinario, the subscription is a business expense like any other software licence, and the invoices with your VAT number on them are what your commercialista needs. Either way, the invoice PDFs are emailed to your billing address and stay under Settings > Billing > Invoices. How to pay from Italy: cards, PayPal, App Store

Web (claude.ai). The help centre is exact: "For subscriptions purchased on the web, we only accept credit or debit cards." No PayPal, no SEPA direct debit, no bonifico, no Satispay. A Visa or Mastercard card issued by an Italian bank works, credit or debit, including prepaid cards on those networks, as long as the card is enabled for online purchases and for foreign-currency purchases in your bank's app. A card that works at the supermarket and is declined at claude.ai is usually blocked for one of those two things; what to do when a Claude payment is declined walks through the checks in order.

App Store (iPhone and iPad). Subscribe inside the Claude app and Apple is the seller. The Italian store lists Pro at 22.00 euro a month and 249.99 euro a year, IVA included, charged in euro with no card conversion. An Apple Account in Italy can pay with most credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, an Apple Account balance from gift cards, or carrier billing through TIM and WINDTRE. So paying for Claude Pro with PayPal is possible, through Apple. The receipt is an Apple consumer receipt with no field for a partita IVA, so a professional who needs a fattura should subscribe on the web. Cancellation and receipts also move to Apple: the help centre says an App Store subscription is managed through the store, not from Settings > Billing.

Google Play (Android). Google sets its own price for the Play listing, and that price was not read on the day of writing, so no figure is printed here. Open the Claude app on Android and read the price on the subscribe screen before you accept it.

On the day of writing, web monthly converted at the ECB rate came to 21.05 euro against 22.00 euro on the App Store, a difference of under one euro. A bank's foreign-currency fee narrows it further, so on a monthly plan the two channels cost about the same, and the store is the simpler choice if you want PayPal or carrier billing. For an annual plan the web is clearly cheaper: 210.49 euro converted against 249.99 euro in the store, and only the web invoice can carry your partita IVA.

At web checkout, or afterwards under Settings > Billing, enter your partita IVA in the Tax or VAT ID field and tick "Use a different name on invoices" to show your business name. Do this before the first charge, since Anthropic cannot amend an invoice it has already issued. Invoices are emailed to your billing address and kept under Settings > Billing > Invoices.
